A chronicle of thoughts, strategies and progress towards my goal of a successful career in venture capital
Background
My background is that of an engineer, an electrical engineer to be precise. However after many a late night in Purdue libraries, and a decent chunk of time designing DSPs at TI, I realized mine was not the path of an engineer. So I followed the advice of a close friend who said, “Eric, you’re a bull-shitter, go get your MBA." Best decision I ever made.
Since that time, I have co-founded and launched an online Real Estate services company, successfully marketed semiconductor products to top tier OEMs, and held a variety of roles at both venture backed startups and industry leading multi-nationals.
Now it’s time to vector my path clearly towards achieving a goal I set almost 10 years ago, the development of a successful career in venture capital. By all accounts this won’t be an easy journey, but as many of my engineering colleagues like to say, ‘if it was easy, everyone would do it.’
